About this role
Engineer III General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems. We have an exciting opportunity for an Experienced Engineer in our Army FRACAS Engineering Group with a propulsion background. Under general supervision with limited review, this position within the Engineering Field Support department performs FRACAS (Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System) engineering, which includes detailed root cause investigations and development of effective corrective actions based on analysis DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Identify Root Cause of failure on various reported field failures of Unmanned Aircraft Systems and components through logical and systematic testing and troubleshooting. - Coordinate a team of multi-disciplined engineers throughout the entire failure analysis process and make recommendations to the Failure Review Board (FRB). - Determine resolution of UAV system failures and corrective actions in support of the FRACAS program. - Drive reliability improvement efforts and issue resolution with Engineering, Manufacturing, Programs, Material Control, and Quality departments. - Review of fault isolation and troubleshooting procedures for UAV systems. - Develop test procedures, perform functional testing, analyze test results, and draw conclusions for equipment and systems in assigned areas. - Devise new approaches to resolve unusual or complex engineering problems. - Maintain FRACAS database, monitor investigation status, track open FRACAS investigations, and generate reports for management and customers. - Create and deliver technical presentations to management and customers. - Mentor junior and mid-level engineers
