About this role
Product Designer 2 - Wearables Olathe, Kansas Overview Garmin is seeking a full-time Product Designer 2 to join our Outdoor and Fitness Wearable group at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. You will be a part of a team designing user experiences for a highly diverse range of Garmin wearables. Your designs will help users explore the great outdoors, stay connected and enable rescues in remote locations, live healthier lifestyles, enable performance athletes to train more effectively, and keep parents connected with their kids. In this UX-focused role, you will be paired with a design mentor and be responsible for understanding, ideating, and creating compelling, well-crafted designs for new features and functions for many of our products. Success involves understanding and applying fundamental usability and user-centered design principles, working amongst many groups and stakeholders to hone your design, and guiding software user interface development, working closely with design leadership, software engineers, graphic artists, product managers, and other stakeholders of your assigned projects. Essential Functions Research, design and prototype user experiences for new features and products in a timely and organized manner Communicate research and designs using mockups, story boarding, visual presentations and writing behavioral documentation Produce creative, simple and highly usable solutions for how products interact in response to human behavior Document clear, organized solutions that are highly understandable in flow, function and status by stakeholders, engineers, and unfamiliar eyes Work closely with design leadership, software engineers, graphic artists, product managers and other stakeholders of the assigned
