About this role

RECREATION ASSISTANT (LIFEGUARD) Cannon AFB, New Mexico Summary About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the DZ Aquatic Center Pool, Cannon Air Force Base. This is a flexible position with guaranteed 00 hours per week. You may be scheduled up to 40 hours per week. Employees appointed to a flexible category position are not eligible for benefits. Duties Manages the aquatics program with the assistance of the Outdoor Recreation Specialist.. Ensures pool is operational during summer months. Instructs lower graded lifeguards in specific tasks, procedures and techniques. Ensures timely accomplishment of work assignments. Maintains awareness of status and progress and makes day-to-day adjustments based on established priorities. Maintains records of work accomplishments as required by program directives/procedures. Makes available written instructions, materials and supplies. Gives on-the-job training to new employees. Maintains a current knowledge and answers questions of other employees or procedures, policies and directives and obtains needed information or decisions from supervisor on problems. Checks on work in progress and reviews completed work to see that supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines have been met. Refers problems or matters not covered by instruction, as well as problems in meeting performance standards to supervisor. Informs other employees of available services and employee activities. Attempts to resolve informal complaints and refers others to supervisor. Reports to supervisor on employee performance, progress, and training needs and on disciplinary problems.
