About this role

Recreation Aid (Lifeguard/WSI) Lackland AFB, Texas Summary This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the JBSA Lackland Outdoor Recreation. This is a flexible position with guaranteed 00 hours per week. You may be scheduled up to 40 hours per week. Employees appointed to a flexible category position are not eligible for benefits Duties The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a lifeguard and perform other related swimming facility duties. May act as a senior lifeguard at a large facility, or the only lifeguard at a small facility. Monitors activities within assigned swimming areas. Maintains order and enforces established rules of safety and behavior. Instructs, cautions, and/or expels patrons as appropriate. Reports problems to senior lifeguard or supervisor. Rescues and resuscitates individuals in danger of drowning and renders first aid to injuries using a variety of techniques such as artificial respiration, CPR, and first aid. Notifies emergency medical services (EMS) and/or other appropriate personnel for more serious accidents/injuries. Uses equipment such as first aid kits, buoys, ropes, rings, shepherd's hooks, and backboards. Cleans assigned areas (e.g., bathrooms, decks, locker rooms, showers, pool, etc.) according to established schedules and instructions. Checks pool water chemistry according to established schedules and instructions (e.g., temperature, chlorine, pH, etc.) and documents/reports findings. Reports equipment/facilities problems to appropriate personnel. Verifies that customers are authorized to use facility by checking appropriate identification. Collects admission fees, makes change, and completes appropriate forms. Reports problems to appropriate personnel. Provides swimming lessons according to
