Lead Recreation Assistant (Lifeguard) Whiteman AFB, Missouri Summary About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Whiteman Outdoor Pool. This position is considered flexible. You are guaranteed 0 hours, however could work up to 40 hours per week. As a flexible employee, you are not eligible to earn annual leave or sign up for benefits. Employee will be eligible for the use of the fitness center, golf course, bowling center, club, swimming pools and other activities. Duties Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area. Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed. Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions, and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail. Ensures that water slides are inspected frequently for cracks or loose matting, and that necessary repairs are made. Under the direction of the Supervisory Recreation Specialist (Outdoor Recreation) prepares daily schedules for assigned employees. Works along with other employees and sets the pace. Controls and issues pool passes, prepares cashier report and deposit slip. Deposits funds to the central cashier daily. Maintains Time and Attendance cards for assigned personnel. Provides guidance for assigned lifeguards and ensures safety and hygiene. Maintains a current knowledge and answers questions on procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives.
