Laborer (MVO) Langley AFB, Virginia Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the Langley Youth Programs at Langley AFB, VA. This is a Regular Part Time position that is guaranteed 20 hours per week but can be scheduled for up to 34 hours per week. The purpose of this position is to perform manual labor tasks involving the use of common hand tools and simple power equipment. Duties Loads and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from tracks, dollies, etc, moves heavy boxes, cartons, or luggage by hand, handtruck, or dolly; opens crates and boxes using crowbars, and cuts bands using shears; stacks boxes and cartons where directed. Performs field maintenance and site preparation across all programs. Runs hand lawnmowers or (domestic type) powered lawnmowers, when this does not require heavy physical effort (for example, on steep grades); edges, clears small trees and bushes, using handsaw, hatchet, or clipper. Using a shovel, digs ditches and trenches where a pick is not needed to loosen the dirt, and where grading and sloping is not required; fills holes with dirt and levels bumps and low places, using shovel, hand tamper, and rake. Moves and arranges furniture as directed; replaces ceiling tiles, performs event set up and tear down, assists with unloading and stocking kitchen, shovels snow from sidewalks; washes and waxes cars and trucks by hand or power buffer. May be required to perform simple painting tasks around program. Drives one or more types of government
