About this role

The primary purpose of this position is to provide appropriate, specialized developmental care and instruction for children in the Child Development Center (CDC). Performs basic oversight and supervision for a designated classroom for ages 6 months through 5 years. May be designated as the supervisor on duty, as needed. Duties Provides age appropriate developmental care for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years of age. Uses initiative to design and implement a variety of activity plans to stimulate and sustain the interest of children and to contribute to their social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. Prepares and implements screening procedures and enrollment procedures for children with special needs. Communicates with parents and other agencies providing specialized services to these children to assist in the preparation and implementation of specialized intervention programs, as necessary. Provides technical guidance and leadership to junior employees assigned to assist with program activities and participates in special projects. Arranges room and play materials to accommodate the daily schedule. Sets up and displays bulletin boards.
