About this role

AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL SPECIALIST (TERMINAL) March AFB, California Summary Click on "Learn more about this agency" button below to view Eligibilities being considered and other IMPORTANT information. Duties SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is: To provide air traffic control (ATC) services to military and civilian aircraft operating in a terminal radar environment using instrument flight rules (IFR), visual flight rules (VFR), and special VFR (SVFR); to provide terminal non-radar approach control services in allocated airspace in the event of radar outages; and, to provide VFR and SVFR ATC services to aircraft operating in the vicinity of March Air Reserve Base (MARB) or within the Controlled Movement Area (CMA) of the airfield providing for the safe, orderly, and expeditious flow of air traffic. DUTIES: Performs duties as Ground Controlled Approach (GCA) Radar Controller. Performs duties as Tower Controller. Performs and serves as Controller-in-Charge (CIC) when no official supervisory personnel are available. Performs on-the-job training (OJT) for developmental controllers. Performs other duties as assigned. Education (CONTINUED) KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of weather phenomena and localized effects. Ability to operate weather system displays acquiring numerous data for different airports and areas for timely dissemination to aircrews and other ATC agencies; ability to make rapid and precise judgments in a real-time work situation, remain calm under conditions that are stressful, coordinate many different processes at once, and adjust rapidly
