AIR CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT MECHANIC - DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY Hanscom AFB, Massachusetts Summary Click on "Learn more about this agency" button below to view Eligibilities being considered and other IMPORTANT information. The primary purpose of this position is to develop the WG-5306-08 Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic via the approved AF Civil Engineering HVAC Technical Training Plan to further technical development. Duties Performs developmental assignments consisting of tasks which have been selected to develop skills to the Journey Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic level. Works with highest graded mechanics repairing and maintaining a variety of domestic and commercial refrigeration and air conditioning units and systems used to condition areas and cool equipment. Selects tools, decides on methods and techniques to use, and installs a variety of parts including major portions of assigned systems and equipment, applying and interpreting information in blueprints, charts, and sketches. Replaces separate small air conditioning units and small systems. Recognizes the cause of faulty equipment. Traces and locates defects, determines nature and extent of repairs required, selects appropriate tools, testing devices, and work sequence. Utilizes established safety practices, rules, regulations, and procedures to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
