About this role

Nurse (Clinical/Medical Surgical Pediatrics) Fort Hood, Texas Summary About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency at the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center located at Fort Hood, Texas. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Student loan repayment may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Duties Ensure maintenance of adequate medical supplies and medications to be used in crash cart. Develop a nursing care plan for the management of acute and chronically ill adult and pediatric patients collaborating with other members of the health care team. Administer oxygen, IV fluids, blood transfusions, chemotherapy and prescribed oral, subcutaneous and intramuscular medications utilizing mg/kg-dosing calculations for pediatric and adult patients as required. Provide information and education on the disease process, pre and postoperative care, procedures, safety factors, use of equipment, use of medications and health maintenance issues. Set up, operate, and monitor specialized equipment such as cardiac monitors, pulse ox meters, IVAC and PCA pumps, feeding pumps, defibrillators, etc. Manage nasal-pharyngeal and gastric suction as well as a variety of other drainage tubes such as Foley catheters, hemovacs, JP drains, chest tubes.
