Utilities Technician Job Location (country) Summary The Utilities Technician will perform preventative and predictive maintenance on all Process Refrigeration, HVAC, Boilers, and Compressed Air equipment. They will monitor and operate the Boilers and associated equipment along with the Ammonia compressors, Condensers and Air compressors. Also, assists with Employee Participation Guidelines of the PSM Program for the operating facility. Responsibilities Maintains and operates ammonia compressors, condensers, fans, pumps, evaporators, heat exchangers Understands and follows safe practices for ammonia and Freon refrigeration equipment Install, repair, tear down, and rebuild system components on all phases of refrigeration and heating systems in the plant Evacuate all or any part of the ammonia refrigeration systems Observe and test system operation, using gauges and instruments Understand component controls and overall control of the system Test lines, components, and connections for leaks Adjust or replace worn or defective mechanisms and parts and reassemble repaired systems Adjust valves according to specifications and charge system with proper type of refrigerant by pumping the specified gas or fluid into the system Install wiring to connect components to an electric power source Perform mechanical overhauls Cut, bend, thread, and connect pipe and tubing Keep records of repairs and replacements made and causes of malfunctions Use/update SOPs, drawing mark-ups and logbooks to communicate across shifts Knowledge of proc
