About this role

Civil Engineering Intern, Jordan Project Description USAID Building Water Infrastructure (BWI) project is a Consulting services agreement for planning, design and construction supervision of water and wastewater infrastructure. Internship Purpose The objectives of the internship are to:  Provide interns with practical, applied engineering skills and knowledge in the field of water and wastewater engineering.  Build interpersonal skills critical for successful collaboration and team building.  Create networking opportunities and broaden industry exposure. Scope of Work The intern will support Construction Team/Design in technical and administrative tasks and will undergo a structured training program aligned with predetermined objectives. The training curriculum will encompass multiple assignments to support Construction Team/Design on various aspects of BWI's water and wastewater activities, including site daily work, project reporting, and technical writing according to CDM Smith and USG policies and procedures. The Trainee Engineer's tasks involve: • Developing construction/Design skills for water and wastewater infrastructure • Participate in preparation of preliminary construction/Design activities • Comprehending applicable engineering codes • Attending projects meetings • Mastering meeting minute preparation • Sharpening report-writing skills • Conducting both desktop and field research including studying relevant literature • Engaging in practical and administrative responsibilities as directed by the supervisor such as conferences and events arrangements. • Accompanying senior engineers to project sites. The training curriculum will be also designed to promote inclusivity and diversity, ensuring that -when applicable- tasks reflect diverse perspectives and address GESI-related disparities within BWI's water and wastewater activities and outcomes.
