About this role

Lab Tech Bath, ME, US Job Description As a Laboratory Technician at Bath Iron Works, this position will provide support services to a busy and dynamic shipyard. Most tasks support industrial activities both shipboard and land side. Tasks of the Laboratory Technician include but not limited to: Chemical & physical testing. Calibration of BIW equipment. Industrial hygiene monitoring. Environmental inspections at all facilities. Shipboard audits. Sampling and visual inspections. Helping with coordination of waste vendors. Other audits and tasks as assigned by the Laboratory Supervisor. The Laboratory Technician must have the capability to become a Shipyard Competent Person within 6 months of being hired, and will then be expected to perform the following tasks: Confined space audits. Hot work permit review and authorization. Spray paint permit review and authorization. Required/Preferred Education/Training Bachelor's Degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, environmental studies, marine studies, or environmental engineering preferred, or, alternatively, an Associate's Degree or minor in the same fields with at least 2 years of pertinent recent work experience is required. Specific demonstrated experience as a Shipyard Competent Person may be substituted for educational requirements.
