Fire Inspector Bath, ME, US Job Description Become a part of the BIW team and help keep our shipbuilders safe. Safety Leadership: The position is committed to service for all Bath Iron Works employees, providing inspection of safety systems on board ships under construction, in production facilities and in office spaces. Project Execution: Inspectors will be expected to make routine inspections and fire-safety assessments on board ships under construction and inside all BIW manufacturing buildings and office areas. Inspection of AED's, fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, as well as other tasks allowed with a CFI certification. Ensure the safety of personnel and property, consistent with applicable company requirements and fire safety standards. Maintain logs, reports, and other miscellaneous paperwork. Assist with fire drills, sprinkler testing, and contractor support for maintenance. Training and Development: Attend trainings as directed by the Fire Chief. Team Collaboration and Communication: The successful candidate should be willing to work in an energetic, industrial inspector environment following the Incident Command Structure and the appropriate Standard Operational Guidelines. Firefighters are organized in three platoons with 48 hours on and 96 hours off, 365 days a year. Continuous Improvement: The fire station includes a gym, kitchen, offices and training room.
