About this role
Production Metal Frameworks Engineer, Graphics, Game and ML Cupertino, United States of America The Metal Frameworks team is directly responsible for the Metal APIs used by both internal and external clients to interface with the powerful Apple Silicon GPU on all Apple platforms, from the smallest Apple Watch to the largest Mac Pro and everything in between. The team collaborates closely with GPU driver, compiler, ecosystem, tooling, and platform OS teams to deliver the best possible Metal developer experience, as well as internal client teams wishing to leverage the computational power of the GPU. The successful candidate is a critical thinker capable of envisioning the optimal way to leverage upcoming GPU features while also looking for opportunities to blend the best ideas from inside/outside of Apple to improve the Metal API. They can apply their software engineering skills to design and implement clear, flexible APIs to expose these features as well as deliver validation and testing plans that provide strong confidence in the robustness and quality of the implementation. Design new Metal API to meet the varying requirements of stakeholders inside/outside Apple Implement Metal software features, delivering robust, maintainable and extendable code Develop API and/or shader validation to help internal and external developers use Metal features Extend and improve API testing to ensure correct behavior of new and existing Metal API Minimum Qualifications: B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a related technical field; or equivalent experience Practical experience in modern GPU programming using Metal, DirectX, and/or Vulkan Knowledge of
