About this role

Sr. Pre-Construction Manager, D&C Chicago, Illinois, USA Amazon's Global Engineering Services (GES) North America Design & Construction team is seeking a Senior Preconstruction Manager to serve as Amazon's senior owner's representative during the preconstruction phase of facility delivery. In this role, you will autonomously manage complex, cross-functional industrial preconstruction projects - from site selection and validation through design management, permitting, and contract execution - for new builds, retrofits, expansions, and program initiatives across your assigned region. You will own project budgets, oversee design management end-to-end, select and manage external vendor partners, and lead project procurement - while partnering with internal teams including Real Estate, Design Engineering, Finance, and Construction, and external stakeholders including architects, engineers, developers, landlords, and permitting agencies. You are accountable for a clean, well-defined handoff to the Construction Manager, and you remain a senior authority and support resource for the construction team throughout the project lifecycle. Projects include fulfillment centers, sortation centers, delivery stations, and auxiliary buildings supporting Amazon's logistics network, ranging from targeted renovations to large-scale new facility builds. You will deliver a mix of tactical and strategic initiatives (60% tactical / 40% strategic) that impact multiple teams and geographies, and you will guide and mentor other preconstruction managers while contributing to the development of Amazon's construction community. This role requires 60% regional travel and availability to work from a corporate office when not traveling.
